GUEST POST - OFF WHITE NIKE HYPERDUNK

This article is something a little different to usual... Let me introduce myself I’m Sam’s boyfriend Thomas. The guy who takes all of her photos for the blog.

Sam has asked me to do a review of my latest sneaker purchase; the Off White Nike Hyperdunk. Off-whites latest collaboration with Nike has been able to take on Yeezy when it comes to the hypebeast/fuckboy market. They have been reselling from between £400-£1500 dependent on the model with retail only being between £100-£200.

I bought the shoe through Artemisyeezy which is an American based company who legit check your purchase before u receive the shoes. Artemisyeezy does offer the best price shoes however, there is a few things you need to check if you are ordering within the UK.

1. Delivery is $40 per item (you do get $20 off your first order). 2. You have to pay tax when your shoes arrive.
The hyperdunk was £50 tax but when I ordered my Yeezy Beluga v2 the tax was £90 despite buying them for the same price. I would recommend Artemisyeezy if you want to have the peace of mind knowing your sneakers are 100% legit.

Main differences between the off white hyperdunk and the original. The Off White have the classic Off White red tag which is featured on all of the sneakers and many of the Off White items. Virgil has also added a “Foam” print on the sole as well as labels on the nike swoosh and the tongue, all these little details make quite an average basketball sneaker stand out.

The shoe comes in a standard nike box but with one key difference... it'sinside out! I thought this was a really nice touch especially when yourspending a small fortune on resale. The box comes with off white packaging andtwo spare laces, black and white, with paint dipped ends.

One of the main differences, and my favourite, is the addition of a strap half way up the laces. It gives more structure to the shoe and gives it a better fit but also has the added bonus of being able to wear the sneakers like every fuckboy with the laces undone and not have to worry about them falling off.

Before I bought the shoe I heard a lot of people talking about how uncomfortable the Off White and Nike range was especially the insole as they’ve added pimples/perforated the insole of the shoe. I do admit it felt odd initially but within ten minutes of wearing them I got used to it and to be honest I preferred it as it gave a little more grip. The shoe itself is covered in flyknit material which is quite comfortable, I would say this fabric maybe doesn’t have as much give as say the flyknit on the Vapormax but is what you’d expect that from a basketball sneaker. This is quite noticeable when you try to put it on especially with the strap, I have to loosen all the laces and pull the tongue right forward to even have a chance of getting them on.

One thing I really appreciate on this sneaker is the added plastic protection toe which covers some off the flyknit upper, without this the shoe would be a nightmare to clean and means you don’t have to waste your money on crap products which do nothing naming no names… cough crep protect.

All and all I do really like this shoe, it's comfortable and has nice little touches. It allows you to be a hypebeast without having to wear yeezy’s and look like every 12 year old fuckboy. I would defiantly recommend.

Which is your favourite out of the Off White and Nike collaboration and will you be picking up the converse or the all white Jordan 1 in 2018?

How Much Can You Make Selling 2018’s Off White X Nike Air Presto?

Less than a year ago Virgil Abloh released one of its most celebrated silhouettes among the Off White X Nike collection, the Air Presto. Now, another iteration of this highly coveted sneaker will be releasing on June 21st, 2018.

2018 Vs. 2017 Air Presto

The Off White x Nike Air Presto comes, unlike the previous release, in 2 colorways, black and white. The white sneaker features the Off White signature deconstructed look with updated mesh uppers.  New upgrades will also include a larger Swoosh stitched on the sides, along with AIR branding on the heel and white adjustable velcro straps. The same features appear on the all-black pair of the Off White X Nike Air Presto.
The main visible difference between 2017 and 2018’s Prestos are the velcro straps which came in contrasting colors to the uppers before. Where this year’s version shows the straps in the same color as the mesh material.

How Much Can You Expect?

Although, it’s been a while since the Off White X Nike Air Presto first released, they’re still going strong in terms of resale value. You can now buy 2017’s black pair on Artemisyeezy for around $1300. Similarly, you can expect 2018’s Prestos to make you just as much profit when you sell them. In fact, early pairs are already listed on Artemisyeezy, and the asks are pretty high. As high as $1800 for the black pair, and $2000 for the white one.
After everything happening in the sneaker industry lately, sneakerheads are looking for a way to make up for any potential loss. Yeezys are now dropping in larger, much larger, numbers and this is kinda getting to the sneaker reselling empire. So if sneakerheads aren’t able to find more valuable alternatives to Yeezys, this 6 Billion dollar Empire risks collapsing. Luckily, however, there are always super-limited Jordans and Off whites that are  keeping the fire lit between Adidas and Nike.

Off White Nike Air Vapormax in Black and White

Ever since the first version of  “The Ten” collection dropped in September 2017, rumors were out regarding a second release. However, the new Off white collaboration with Nike doesn’t look much like a collection. This year, every sneaker seems to be dropping as a separate release. 2018’s collaboration kicked off with the Off White Nike Air Jordan 1. And up next is the Off White Nike Air Vapormax.

Are They Worth Your Time?

While some people get very anxious and scared of releases that are this hyped, others get prepared. It’s true that the competition will be crazy strong and that your chances at copping a pair of these kicks are pretty low, but the outcome can be worth it. Last Year’s Off white Nike Air VaporMax, is currently selling for around $159.99. That’s just the average, some pairs were actually sold for $1800, and compared to the retail price of $159.99, that’s a great profit. And with the new release drawing closer, you cannot expect either of the 2 pairs to make less than that on the resellers’ market. In fact, Early pairs of the White Off White Nike Air VaporMax are selling for over $800.

Features

What we’re looking at here isn’t very much different from last year’s release. In fact, the Black version of the Off white Nike Air Vapormax very much resembles 2017’s iteration. What’s new this year, however, is the introduction of an all-white pair.
Both pairs come dressed in either a white or a black primeknit and feature total orange accents. These Orange accents can be seen on the Swoosh logo on the tongue and on the tag placed on the lateral sides of the shoe. What stands out in this design, is the usual clear full-length Air VaporMax unit. In Addition, the “AIR” on the heel, and the Off-White text on the medial side come in black.

Release Information & Early Links

You can expect the Off White Nike Air VapoMax to drop on March 30th in black and in White on April 14th. As for the stockists and where to buy these sneakers, nothing is clear yet. We’re still not sure whether this release is going to be EU-exclusive like the Air Jordan 1’s, or wider. Either way, all these details will become clear as the release is happening in a couple of days.
For the meantime, it looks like the most confirmed and legit news is that NordstromDSM London, and HolyPop in Italy will be dropping some pairs of the Vapormaxes. In addition, FootPatrol (APP), SneakersnStuff, END, and Bodega will be holding raffles on the 30th for a chance to win these Off Whites.

What’s Next?

If you’re wondering what’s coming after the Off White Nike Air VaporMax? Well, a lot! Virgil Abloh and Nike’s work together seems to have just started. As we progress through 2018 we will see more of this creative collaboration and will have more sneakers to freak out over. Don’t forget! The White Pair of the Off White Nike Air Vapormax is dropping on April 14th.

Yeezy Boost 700 Wave Runner Review

While a lot of bloggers will say they loved both the Yeezy Boost 700 and 350 immediately, there’s a large number, including me that didn’t like either on first release. When I saw the sneaker press images I thought it had to be a concept rather than an actual release but it wasn’t. I will again give credit to those who liked the look from the get go because for the last 3 months I’ve gradually built an obsession with the Yeezy Boost 700 ‘wave runner’.

In the sneaker game we get so use to the ‘norm’ and see iterations of the same thing which over time gets uninspiring. The Yeezy Wave Runner is apparently styled off some much older runners and I’ve seen a few images that confirm this. For Kanye to work on these was actually a master stroke, not only because of its originality but for its limited availability.

Unlike the now quite common Yeezy Boost 350 V2′s the only legit place to buy was on Artemisyeezy and they sold out very quickly (as you’d expect). Adding to this, the runner was rumored only to be available in the US, with a later international release happening out of the blue. Resell prices sky rocketed in the months that followed averaging between $169.99 for a legit pair (sorry those of you buying those at under that price).

During my recent holiday to Australia I found a store in Melbourne that resold new limited sneakers and you could look and try on (also you get to see if they’re real). I bought the pair at the lowest price I could find and wasn’t disappointed. I got advice on the sizing from one or two people I know have them and they both said buy actual size, which for Adidas is uk 9.5 – unfortunately the store only had a UK 10 but I tried them on and they were fine (I also get all my 350 v2s at UK 10).

The comfort of the Yeezy Wave Runner is very good but a more compact feel than any other Yeezy shoe. They come with the Boost technology still even though it’s somewhat hidden by the sole. The colours look awesome, a real iconic blend which I’m sure will be built on in the future. I’ve only really worn them with shorts and track pants so far and am very wary of the size with skinny jeans so I’ll likely go for a different style.

This sneaker is going to be as big as the 350 in terms of appeal and range, I’m sure of it. Hopefully they will be easier to buy in the future though. Hope you like the photos.

Off-White x Nike Air VaporMax Black

Virgil Abloh has designed two more Off-White x Nike Air VaporMax colourways for 2018. One will come dressed in Black and the other in White. This weekend, Shelflife will be dropping the black colourway.

This 2018 colourway was first leaked last year following the hype of that Nike collaboration known as “The Ten”. A blacked-out Flyknit upper sits above a translucent midsole. Virgil Abloh once again proves himself to be a force in the world of sneaker design. Most of the signature details seen on last year’s Vapormax come stamped to this rendition. That includes “AIR” print along the heel as well as a stitched Swoosh. Subtle hits of orange provide the only contrast to that dark upper.

The Off-White Vapormax ‘Black’ features in the same deconstructed style complete with a chunky, foam padded tongue. This classic Off-White aesthetic is contrasted perfectly by the addition of a crystal clear Vapormax Unit underfoot. Nike’s most ground-breaking innovation promises the best in support underfoot.

The Off-White x Nike Air VaporMax Black will drop on Saturday the 31st of March via live raffle at 9h30am in our CPT & JHB store along with an online raffle from our online store. Please see below for more info.

Price: $129.99
Sizes: UK6, UK7, UK8, UK9, UK10, UK11

OFF WHITE x Nike Bring On the Air VaporMax of 2018

OFF WHITE’s, Virgil Abloh, will be continuing his collaboration with Nike into the coming year. Two Nike Air VaporMax colorways will have the honor of being reconstructed with his signature style, again. This white one and a black one are said to release in 2018. Both will have a retail price of $129.99 like their 2017 counterpart.

Features on the OFF WHITE x Nike Air Vapormax

Its features will include Flyknit upper and the classic VaporMax sole. There will be OFF WHITE “AIR” branding on the heel and on the inner lateral section. Of course, not without the signature orange tab embroidered on the Nike Swoosh and the infamous zip-tie.
Side note: If you’ve ever wondered what to do with the zip-tie, you’re not alone. We don’t have a freaking clue! But according to Artemisyeezy, you’re supposed to cut it off and leave it alone. But then again you paid for it. And it looks pretty cool. So you can simply leave it there and flaunt your branded sneakers. We’ve actually seen people rocking that zip-tie on their Nikes without looking ridiculous.

“The Ten” 2018?

This will be one of many shoes the genius Virgil Abloh has worked on with Nike. In 2017, Abloh collaborated with Nike to recreate 10 classic Nike shoe models in a collection called “The Ten”. There’s a rumor that a second “The Ten” collection will release in 2018. Is this OFF WHITE x Nike VaporMax going to be part of the second installment of “The Ten”? Well, we think so! That means we can expect to see more leaks of shoes by Abloh and Nike soon. Doesn’t this excite any of you?!
Pairs from the OFF WHITE x Nike collaboration were so difficult to get a hold of when they released on Nike online. Today, on StockX, the Air VaporMax Off-White from “The Ten” is sold for around $135.99, it makes resellers over 200% of its retail value.
Another OFF WHITE collab that will drop in 2018 is the Virgil Abloh x Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star. In November, “The Ten” turned into The Nine, when the Converse didn’t show up in the drop due to production issues. However, it will hopefully release early 2018. Who else is looking forward to these sneakers?

HOW TO LEGIT CHECK AN AIR JORDAN 1 X “OFF-WHITE”

Nike’s collaboration with Off-White is no stranger in the streetwear, even to commoners. ‘The Ten’ collection definitely changed the landscape of the sneaker scene, making Nike the preferred brand after the recent Adidas Boost madness. The demand for Nike’s collaboration with Off-White is so overwhelming such that the manufacturers in China have developed fakes which are so close to the authentic pairs, causing many sneakerheads and commoners to fall into scams by resellers who are looking to make quick cash.
Today, we will be sharing with you what to look out for when it comes to legit checking one of the most coveted pairs in ‘The Ten’ collection, the Air Jordan 1 x Off-White.

Wings Logo

Based on the photo below, you should look out for the consistency of the font and the glossiness of the ‘AIR JORDAN’. The retail pair has a more consistent font size and has a cleaner print with a matte finish while the fakes have a glossy finishing. Another part to look out is the wings itself, where the retail pair is equally distributed and does not combine each other, while on the fakes, some of the wings are attached to each other (check 1, 2, 3 and 4 from photo 2). The perforations on the flap of the retail pair is nicely punctured while the fakes only have perforations that are half done (sort of).

“AIR” Logo

For this part, the “AIR” branding on the retail pair has a matte finish and is placed right in the middle between the stitching on the midsole and the outsole, while the fakes have a glossy finish to the “AIR” branding and are placed nearer to the outsole.

“USA” Text

The “USA” text on the inner side of the retail pair has a matte finishing and does not have a clean print and if you are wondering what are we talking about, the font looks like it’s slightly smudged upwards. The fakes have a glossy finishing on the “USA” text and are printed more consistently compared to the authentic pair.

“85” Flap

If you guys have not realized, there is an “85” branding behind the side flaps. This part is crucial as this is often used to determine whether the pair is authentic or not. As you may observe from photo 5 and photo 6, the font is different from the real pair and the fake pair. Another thing you should take note of is the indented shape of the Wings logo as you may observe in photo 7. The indented shape can almost be considered a dead giveaway as it is a clear mark that separates the authentic and fake pairs.

Back Section

For the real pairs, you may observe the symmetrical aesthetics and texture of the material used which differs from the fake pair which does not have a particular pattern.

Placement Of Swoosh

Based on photo 9, you may observe that the real pair’s Swoosh does not exceed the stitching as pointed in the photo. The Swoosh on the real pair has an observable distance from the midsole compared to the fake as seen in photo 10. However, even some retail pairs are inconsistent when it comes to the length and placement of the Swoosh which makes this method an unreliable method, but is still helpful as a pointer.

Insoles

This would be easier to spot as the real pair has a cream tint to its insoles, while the fake insoles have a blue tint to it. The grooves on the real pair’s insole have a more prominent, distinct pyramidical shape compared to the fake pair’s insoles that have inconsistent grooves with non-distinct shapes.

Hang Tags

This is an easy way to detect a fake which is through the pair’s hangtag. The real pair’s hangtag has a darker red shade while the fake has an orange shade hangtag. The fake pair’s hangtag has a bigger circumference compared to the real one as seen in photo 13.
